چکیده
The index conjecture in zero-sum theory states that if gcd?(n,6)=1 then every minimal sequence of length 4 modulo n has 1. In this paper, we prove a version for all n>N some absolute constant N.

On Bialostocki’s Conjecture for Zero-sum Sequences
A finite sequence S of terms from an (additive) abelian group is said to have zero-sum if the sum of the terms of S is zero. In 1961 P. Erdős, A. Ginzburg and A. Ziv [3] proved that any sequence of 2n− 1 terms from an abelian group of order n contains an n-term zero-sum subsequence. This celebrated EGZ theorem is is an important result in combinatorial number theory and it has many different ge...
متن کاملZero - Sum Problems and Snevily ’ S Conjecture
This is a survey of recent advances on zero-sum problems and Snevily’s conjecture concerning finite abelian groups. In particular, we will introduce Reiher’s recent solution to the Kemnitz conjecture and our simplification. 1. On Zero-sum Problems The theory of zero-sums began with the following celebrated theorem. The Erdős-Ginzburg-Ziv Theorem [Bull. Research Council. Israel, 1961]. For any c...
متن کاملA Unified Theory of Zero - Sum Problems
Abstract. In combinatorial number theory, zero-sum problems, subset sums and covers of the integers are three different topics initiated by P. Erdős and investigated by many researchers; they play important roles in both number theory and combinatorics. In this paper we reveal some deep connections among these seemingly unrelated fascinating areas, and establish a unified theory for the first t...
متن کاملDecision Theory III - Zero Sum Games
Game theory is a huge area of mathematical (and economical) research. We restrict ourselves mainly to two person zero-sum games, in which you make a decision and your opponent makes a decision (no cooperation allowed!), and your winnings equal your opponents loss. The main result is the so-called minimax theorem. Essentially, game theory is about playing against a (possibly) better player and e...
متن کاملRelaxing the zero-sum assumption in neutral biodiversity theory.
The zero-sum assumption is one of the ingredients of the standard neutral model of biodiversity by Hubbell. It states that the community is saturated all the time, which in this model means that the total number of individuals in the community is constant over time, and therefore introduces a coupling between species abundances. It was shown recently that a neutral model with independent specie...
